How to Claim Your Prize

If you won, Congratulations! But now what? Where do you claim your prize? What are your payment options? Read below for all the answers.

Step 1: Sign Your Ticket

If your ticket was purchased at a retail location, sign the back of your ticket as soon as possible to help protect your winnings.

Step 2: Choose the Right Claim Method

The way you claim your prize depends on the prize amount. Brightstar Lottery supports multiple claim options, including:

  • Claiming at an authorized retail location
  • Claiming at a Claim Center
  • Claiming by mail
  • Claiming through an online e‑Claim option
  • Claiming through online play

The available claim options may vary based on prize value and ticket type.

Step 3: Claim Your Prize on Time

All prizes must be claimed within the designated claim period. Claim deadlines vary by game and ticket type, so be sure to check the applicable time limits before submitting your claim.

For certain large prizes, different payout options may be available. Selection of a payout option may be required within a specific time frame after the draw date.

Special Notes for Players

  • Please use only one claim method to submit your prize claim. Submitting the same claim through multiple methods may cause delays.

  • Multiple winning tickets may be submitted together during a single Claim Center appointment.

  • For tickets that require physical validation, always keep your original ticket in a safe place until your claim is completed.

Online Play – Claim Overview

For tickets purchased online, prize handling may vary based on the prize amount:

  • Smaller prizes may be credited automatically to the player’s online wallet.

  • Mid‑tier prizes may require additional verification through a Claim Center, mail, or e‑Claim process.

  • Larger prizes may require an in‑person claim at a Claim Center.

Taxes

For demonstration purposes, Brightstar Lottery may show example tax withholdings on prize payments above certain amounts. In this sample experience, a portion of larger prizes may be displayed as withheld to illustrate how federal or state taxes could be applied, and players may see a reference to a year‑end tax form (such as a W‑2G) that reflects these withholdings.

In some example scenarios, players who do not provide a valid tax identification number may see a higher sample withholding applied to prizes over a defined threshold. This is shown only to demonstrate how different player situations might impact tax handling within the product experience.

Please note that all tax rates, thresholds, and rules shown are fictional and for showcase purposes only. They do not represent real tax requirements or advice. Players should always consult a qualified tax professional or appropriate tax authority when dealing with actual lottery winnings.
